ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) pioneered into this domain,
and settled Vancouver criterions gathered in a seminal document of recommendations and through the menus of their site [ links = last versions ].

E.g.: [ NB: I first provide the original version, which is the one that was seen as reference in various domain and countries at the time. I don't know about the universality of the later updates ].

Who should be listed in authors, vs acknowledgments ? definition of authorship vs contributorship [ new longer version here ]
About multiples subissions [ new longer version here ]
conflicts of interest [ I didn't find the equivalent page in the new version ]
and a lot more (reviewing, confidentiality, misconducts...).

Note that the recommendations of the French Académie des Sciences rapport 2011 (in french): is basically to follow the Vancouver criterions (summarized annex 4, p50).
